Paying by
"Electronic Check"
|
![]() |
Paying by Electronic Check is just like writing a check from your checkbook.
All Electronic Check transactions are SSL encrypted and transmitted via 128-bit
encryption, the highest available on the web and stored on dedicated secure
servers.
To pay by electronic check, you must have a valid US bank account (checking),
and have a blank, unused check on hand for reference. You will use the check as
you would normally - noting the transaction in your checkbook register as if it
were a paper check, then voiding the actual paper check so that the check
number corresponds uniquely to the electronic check transaction.
There will be no convenience fee. The electronic check will be
deposited by the City of New York and routed to your bank for payment. Your
bank will include the transaction with your regular monthly statement
information.
Payments may take up to two (2) days to be posted to our records. You will
receive credit for your payment as of the date of your confirmed transaction.
You will be provided with a Receipt Number with Date and Time of Payment upon
successful transaction.
As with a regular checking account, there will be a $20.00 processing charge
for checks returned to our processor, for conditions such as insufficient
funds, etc.
Check fraud attempts will be reported to the authorities and prosecuted to the
full extent of the law.
You will be prompted to enter your Electronic Check information AFTER you have
selected the items that you wish to pay.
